Lindsay & Edward’s wedding was at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort in Bedford, Pa. A wedding set for royalty, with English traditions and stunning views.
The first time I met these two was in September of last year for their sunrise engagement session in the city. I had felt so bad. We originally planned a session with the sun rising over the city as our backdrop. To much to our dismay, our city sunrise was no where to be seen. A heavy fog created a misty dew that morning. So when we arrived at 6 am, on top of Mt. Washington, we had but only a dark grey view, maybe only seeing 10 ft in front of us. We did hope eventually the city would make an appearance, but it really never did. Although the city didn’t come through the fog that morning, we got so many awesome photos for these two. Their pictures came out so unique and I am constantly asked where did we take them. Many of my clients ask if I could recreate them, and to be honest, it was a once in a blue moon chance. Despite the fog, I really had a blast with these two and their adorable pup Jack. I got to learn more of their story and I just couldn’t wait for their big day!
Lindsay & Edward met at a Work Christmas Party in Bathesda, Maryland. I actually remember Edward saying he felt like Lindsay was out of his league at first. As you can guess, these two found their soulmates that night.
Fast forward to this beautiful day in Bedford. I could tell how excited they both were to see each other and finally get married.
The day started in the Omni’s gorgeous Ross Suite where the Bride & her wonderful bridesmaids were getting hair & makeup done. Champagne was popped, the flower girls were giggling, and the anticipation was building. Upstairs in the Willow Room, the men were celebrating with smooth whiskey and good ole fashion world cup football.
Lindsay’s mother Diane, sister Lauren, and two flower girls Ava & Ariana, helped Lindsay into her dress. I knew exactly how important it was for them to all be there with her.
Seeing Lindsay in her dress was simply breathtaking. This gorgeous A line dress from Kelly Faetanini , had exquisite floral accents that trickled down the dress, on top of an “Ivory to Pink” ombre. The eye-catching pink floral bottom would stop anyone in their tracks.
A very heartwarming moment for me was Lindsay’s first look with her father, Allan. He cried instantly when he came around the corner to see her. I could tell how much this special moment had meant to him. He walked in and embraced Lindsay. Lindsay at this point was just as emotional, trying to hold back the tears. At that exact moment, the little flower girl, Ava said, “Is she going to marry Edward or what?!?”
Everyone in the room busted out laughing, chuckling over what this little girl had just said. But Ava was right, it was time! <3
Before the ceremony, Edward & Lindsay decided to do a first look on the gorgeous Ross Suite Patio . It was very important for their family & close friends to be there. So we had Edward face their closest family and friends, while he watched their reactions when Lindsay stepped out behind him. I know the anticipation was getting to him because he couldn’t put away his smile. We even had him wait just a minute or two while the suspense build-ed. But when he finally turned around to see his future wife, his reaction made my heart explode. When he turned around to face Lindsay, Edward’s reaction was nothing but unconditional love. He was speechless and clearly on cloud nine as he wrapped his arms around her. His smile was a mile wide, and he teared up as she spun for him, twirling her gown so that he could see all the beauty she is. I even had to stop myself from ugly crying in front of all their family members, who were tearing up too!! I couldn’t help but think about how serendipitous these two were. Lindsay & Edward had been born in two different countries, world’s apart, but still found each other.
Throughout the wedding, I loved how they both incorporated English traditions into their big day. It says a lot about how Lindsay values Edwards background, and brought these details to pay tribute to his homeland.
“The best part of a royal wedding is the hats.”
Talk about some of England’s finest traditions, lets talk HATS! Every royal wedding we have watched, we have seen some of the most elegant & extravagant hats. Lindsay & her girls were all dulled up in the finest of headpieces, fit for royalty. Different designs of all shapes and sizes, they were a blush dream. Lindsay’s hat was the show stopper and I could never forget how gorgeous it went with her dress. I loved that they laid out an array of hats for their guests at the ceremony! This was a wonderful gesture that made their guests feel included in the royal festivities.
“Pimm’s Cup Ceremony Cocktails.”
Speaking of guests, Pimm’s Cup cocktails were offered to their guests at the beginning of the ceremony. Another hint of England, the cocktails made for a refreshing beverage at this gorgeous outdoor ceremony space.
“Across the Pond.”
Edward’s grandmother flew all the way to be here from Liverpool! Best English surprise yet!
When it came time for the ceremony, everyone was so excited to finally see this marriage! White row of chairs aligned a gorgeous pink petaled aisle. Huge, beautiful pink floral accents from Loving Touch Flower Shop  were featured the end of the aisle. The Three Rivers String Quartet played as the bridal party walked down the aisle. The bridesmaids sported their lovely pink dresses, while the Matrons of Honor were dressed in ivory. For me, the two adorable flower girls, in their gorgeous pink tulle gowns, was the greatest tease for the bride walking down the aisle.
It was then, when Lindsay starting walking down the aisle, everyone rose from their seats. Edward’s smile beaming from the front of the alter. This was it!
Throughout the ceremony, I really started to appreciate how much family meant to these two. Both Lindsay & Edward’s brothers spoke kind words for the ceremony. While we all watched Lindsay & Edward exchange vows, you could see the smiles fill the crowd, especially from their close family. After their first kiss, and they were announced, everyone rose again to celebrate! I loved the excitement in both of their eyes as they walked back down the aisle. One of my favorite images was when Edward looked straight into the camera, and you could just see the immense happiness in his eyes!
Now it was time to party! Lindsay & Edwards beautiful reception space was filled with ivory, pink, gold and elegance! Their guest book was a globe where people could sign all over the world. Incredible pink floral creations in clear exquisite vases from Loving Touch Flower Shop , sat on top of ivory table cloths. Their sweet heart table was draped in gold sequence with a gold Mr & Mrs signage. The cake ,supplied by the Omni Bedford Springs Resort , looked like a ivory rose with pink rose accents. I could of photographed this cake for hours, if I could !!!
Overall this wedding could take your breath away! From the hints to England, the special appreciation they had for their family, and all the love these two share for each other, just melts your heart. Throughout the day, I was continuously reminded of how easy it is to photograph a couple who are undoubtedly meant for each other! The reception was no exception when these two gazed at each other all night long. As their speakers spoke about good times of childhood, they often chuckled together as if they known one another their whole lives. And for their first dance, they waltzed with love in their eyes, and happiness in their heart.
To Lindsay & Edward,
I just want to say a personal thank you for letting me capture this special day & letting me witness the love you two share for one another. You two are an amazing reminder to follow your heart to far away places. I hope you get to enjoy Pittsburgh, and start a wonderful life together, with Jack! <3
Love Always,
Danielle
