Hot Metal Bridge + Riverfront Pittsburgh Engagement Session | Carlie + Joey

Carlie + Joey’s Hot Metal Bridge Engagement Session

This Hot Metal Bridge Engagement session with Carlie and Joey completely stole my heart. We had the most perfect golden hour walking along the Riverfront in Pittsburgh. If you know me at all, you know I was dying over Carlie’s shoes! She was totally rocking those strappy black heels with jeans and then, later, the white sparkly heels with her cute lacey dress. They were the perfect outfits! There was the most amazing little boat (that I totally wanted to steal!) tied up next to our walk so of course we had to take a few shots with that, too. This session has me sooo excited to shoot their winter wedding this January!

Their Love Story

Carlie and Joey met 10 years ago through their parents (specifically at a cornhole tournament, which I think is so awesome!) and they officially began dating 4 years ago. One of their favorite dates together was the night they loaded up the back of their truck with a mattress, pillows, blankets, and countless snacks and drinks and drove out to the drive-in theater and watched movies together all night. I love the way Carlie tells the story of their proposal: “He asked and I said about time.” Joey had planned for both of their families to be a part of the proposal. He created a romantic pathway with lanterns and white rose petals, which Carlie had followed to find him waiting at the end of the pathway, surrounded by twinkling lights. Afterwards, they celebrated with both their families.

When I asked these two what they loved about one another, Carlie told me, “Joey is very thoughtful. Even the smallest things like leaving flowers set up for me when I went to get my dress and told me to have a good time and he loves me. Joey’s honest. He will never lie to me or steer me wrong. Even if it’s something I may not like he will be completely honest and we tackle everything together. He’s respectful. He’s a very family-oriented person even if it’s not his own. He pays attention to everyone else’s feelings and fits right into any setting. He fits into my family like he was never missing and has a great relationship with my dad. We look forward to having a family and when he says something it’s always about our future.” Talk about making my heart melt! These two are made for each other!
