North Park Boathouse Engagement Photos

Alicia + Matt

Alicia and Matt’s North Park Boat House engagement photos have just the perfect fall touch. Between the last of the leaves hanging on and Alicia’s adorable sweaters, it couldn’t have been more perfect.

I have had quite the busy November! So in between conferences in Phoenix and Dallas, I flew back to chilly Pittsburgh for a wedding and this lovely couple’s engagement session. I had good timing, because I was also able to meet my brand new niece while I was back home. I had to soak up my time with my hubby Josh, so he came along with us to this session. He is the best equipment holder I know 🙂

How they met

Alicia and Matt have been together now for 4 years. They met through mutual friends at a New Year’s eve party! Because they were friends first, they didn’t have an official “Dating Anniversary.” Well one night they were getting ready to go out for dinner, and they were joking about their lack of an “official” anniversary, and next thing she knew, Alicia turned around and saw Matt. He had a ring in his hands and asked, “How about we celebrate a couple more?” I had to laugh a little at Matt’s response to his favorite date with Alicia – he said picking up truck tires at the UPS store….I hope there was a good story to go along with that 🙂

Both Matt and Alicia said one of their favorite things about the other was their kindness. It warmed my heart that was so important to the two of them, and after meeting them I can certainly agree!

Their Session

We met up with them at the North Park Boathouse, where, despite it getting colder, these two absolutely rocked their session! We had to do just a little bit of sneaking behind the boathouse to get closer to the water, but it was worth it! I loved the glow we got down there. After they switched outfits (equally adorable!), we headed over to one of my favorite lesser-known gems of North Park. I love the backdrop of the cannon with the stone walls! It gives their photos a totally different backdrop and texture, something different from the normal green around us. I loved how much variety it added to their whole session!
After spending the evening with these two, I am even MORE excited for their wedding next July. They’re getting married at the Heinz History Center, and I just know it’s going to be gorgeous. Evelyn and John got married there and I loved every minute of it!
