I remember the first time I met Lisa, the star of today’s headshot session and one of my favorite Pittsburgh Musical Vendors & Teacher. We collaborated on a styled engagement session. We really wanted to create an atmosphere of romance, so we asked the couple dance to the violin. Lisa was our incredible violinist, and she really set the stage for that session.
Not only does Lisa provide beautiful music for weddings, but she also teaches the violin as well. Lisa came to me with the unique idea of taking her headshots in her in-home studio. This allowed me to not only capture a great traditional headshot, but it also showed a more intimate side to who Lisa is and what she does.
We started off the session with her teaching a wonderful little student. It was so fun to watch a “mock” session unfold, and to see how she interacts with her students. It is clear she not only loves playing for herself, but also passing that love onto the next generation. Next we brought out her violin, which is a showcase piece. This violin was made for Lisa specifically. The wood, the color, and the look were all designed by her and the maker.
I learned that Lisa also teaches the cello and viola, and I got to photograph her collection of instruments, and some fun, intimate details around the studio. Lastly, I got to photograph her two sweet puppies. They are just the cutest! It took a few tries getting them to cooperate. But they finally agreed to sit and look cute for the camera!
