It is always so special to be welcomed into someone’s home for a lifestyle newborn session. Even more so when I have known this new mama since high school! It has been such a treat to see Emily and her husband Nick starting a family. I could hardly believe that a whole decade has gone by since we graduated from high school together! And now here she is, with a brand new baby that I just loved to love on!

We chose to do their photos in the comfort of their home, which becomes such a sacred space when babies are still so fresh and new. Emily had her sister Julia there at the house to help out during the session. This is always such a great idea! It was amazing to have her help. It helps make everything go so much smoother and less stressful just to have an extra set of hands to help out. She was so nice to help me several times with props and clothes. It just adds a peaceful element to the flow of the session, which is so important when we are photographing these little ones!

After looking through these photos, I’m sure you won’t be surprised at all to learn that Nick, Emily’s huband, was a baby model! Weston definitely took after his daddy. He was so cute and just a star during his photo shoot. We did a few different poses with him but the most difficult one of all was…getting not just Weston but ALL of their babies on the couch for a photo. This included two parents, one newborn, and THREE pups! But they cozied right up and made it work. It was totally worth it! What a great first family photo with Weston, that I’m sure they will treasure forever!

I am so happy for the chance to be with this family at the start of their journey into parenthood and document these first precious few moments together. I can’t wait to watch Weston grow up into the sweet little boy I know he will be!
