John and Evelyn’s beautiful St James Catholic Church and Heinz History Center Wedding in Pittsburgh was nothing short of amazing, despite – or perhaps becauseĀ – of a day full of rain. However, the rain didn’t stop us from creating magical portraits or having fun. In fact, as you’ll soon see, the rain made for incredible night time portraits and even a little splashing š
On the morning of her wedding, Evelyn chose to get ready at her parent’s beautiful home. Her and her bridesmaids filled the room with their joy and laughter. When Evelyn started getting her hair done, her bridesmaids presented her with a gift. It was a small box that wrote “Wishes for the Bride.” Inside the tiny box were small, hand-written wishes from each of her girls. A small gesture… that meant the world.
After Evelyn’s hair and makeup was finished, she spent a moment to herself, opening and reading another gift – this time from her soon-to-be-spouse. I love when my couples choose to open gifts from each other before they even see one another for the day. It is always such a tender moment for them to reflect on their love story, and what has brought them this far. For John and Evelyn, they started as co-workers, and after a first date at the dog park, they had hit it off! Evelyn told John, “I feel like we both knew on our first date that we would end up here today.”
John, too, was able to spend a quiet moment opening a gift from Evelyn and reading words from her that made him smile. They both described the profound affect that each of them have had on one another – they both agreed that being together has made them, individually, better people than they ever would have been alone.
After being apart all morning long, John and Evelyn were ready to finally see each other! The cutest little flower girl (who was just a bit camera shy) and ring bearer prepped the walkway for the bride. As Evelyn walked down the aisle, she was all smiles. She grinned from ear to ear without hesitation. After a sweet ceremony and exchange of vows, the new bride and groom exited to a flurry of bubbles and cheers from friends and family. Naturally, a twirl was in order…but with a twist š
Like I said above, their entire wedding day was wet and rainy. But Evelyn and John and their entire bridal party were great sports taking portraits outside. One of the groomsmen even ended up jumping in a puddle and getting soaked! Their great attitudes and cheerful countenance made for the best wedding party portraits!
A huge thank you to all the vendors who mad this day possible!
