I hope you guys remember Jade and Jason from their Mount Washington Engagement session, which was complete with impeccable details, such as a picnic, wine, and a gorgeous charcuterie board. That’s because Jade is an amazing wedding planner herself. I knew as soon as I met Jason that these two simply could not be a better fit for each other! Jason was immediately such a comfortable and charismatic groom to photograph. If you missed it, go check out their session now! Of course, I knew their Energy Innovation Center wedding was going to be equally as thoughtful and gorgeous as their engagement session–which it was!
I met Jade while working with her for a client’s wedding. She was such a sweetheart, and such a joy to work with. Not only does she (obviously!) have a great eye for detail, but she also provides such an incredible support system for her clients. I was so excited when she asked me to shoot her wedding – it is a true compliment when someone like Jade trusts you to capture her vision!
From the moment I walked into the women’s hotel room on the morning of their wedding, I knew I was going to be completely obsessed with their entire day. Not only was I met with perfect lighting and the bridesmaids dresses in shades of green, but they also had their very own doughnut tiered castle!
Afterwards, for their portraits, we wanted to showcase the city of Pittsburgh and then we headed over to the the venue, the Energy Innovation Center. Personally, I have a soft spot for the EIC. Previously I used this venue for my own daughter’s first birthday. The energy center used to be Connelly Trade School where my husband’s grandfather went to school over 50 years ago. A landmark on its own, the EIC sits on top of the hill facing the city and has a gorgeous rooftop , industrial vibe hallways, and an amazing ballroom with windows galore.
One of the most tender details about Jason and Jade’s wedding day is how they incorporated Jason’s brother throughout the wedding. Jason met Jade after just recently losing his brother, and so in his speech, he mentioned how Jade was an angel in the darkness. I swear you could feel Jason’s brothers presence and love there that day. They brought a dedication table with memories, put his picture on his seat for the ceremony, and brought him a rose (as well as their mothers) mid ceremony.
After such a touching wedding ceremony, their DJ from Loyalty Entertainment brought us into the reception with great games, and they knew just how to get the crowd comfortable and laughing and ready to party! It was the best day!
