Kayla and Ben’s Shadow Lakes Country Club Wedding
This Shadow Lakes Country Club wedding with Kayla and Ben was so beautiful! Looking back, this seriously was one of my favorite weddings because this couple is just that amazing. Kayla and Ben are so light-hearted, fun, and so freaking adorable together!!!
Before every wedding, I send my couples a questionnaire to get to know them better, as well as to make sure of the wedding day timeline. Some of Ben’s answer just melted my heart! When I asked how he had proposed to Kayla, he said that he asked her “on her grandparents porch. Our moments all happened there. From breath-taking moments, to fights, I believe it was only right to have it there.” He says he loves to go out on dates with Kayla, just to “see what the world has to offer with her.” One of his favorite things about her is “this one face she makes, it makes me feel all types of ways when I see it…She stands beside me no matter what and I cannot be more grateful. She believes in me from the bottom of her heart, and I just don’t know what I did to deserve that. I love those things about her.” So cute, right? Ben is just a wonderful yet hilarious gentleman.
The Wedding Day
Ben and Kayla were one of my “Covid Couples.” Although they had to postpone their big celebration, they did do a small wedding ceremony on the date they had originally set. Although they were technically already married, this ceremony of renewing their vows and having their cherished family and friends there was so important to them.
Their wedding was at Shadow Lakes Country Club, except for their ceremony. They got ready there in the morning so we had the opportunity to shoot details there. Which, I was completely obsessed with the amount of flowers the florist gave me to play with. Heritage Floral Shoppe is seriously the best.
Although they were married before, Kayla waited to wear the wedding dress she picked out for this day. So this was the first time Ben saw the dress; he was beaming! We also recreated a picture from the day, with their hands reaching around a corner for one another, before the ceremony. Their pastor and Kayla’s father prayed over their hands too. It was such a sweet moment.
The Reception
This was my first wedding back with a full dance floor after Covid. Honestly it was so nice to see a big wedding party again! During the reception, Kayla’s sister serenaded them. She sang “A Thousand Years” for them, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. I also want to shed a light on Mother and Daughter Dances! Kayla surprised her mom with a dance because she means everything to her. Halfway through Meghan Trainer’s song “Mom”, the DJ invited everyone up with their moms. It was great to see everyone celebrate their moms. This is definitely something I wish I would have done at my own wedding!
