Alicia and Matthew’s Pittsburgh History Center wedding could not have been more beautiful. I had previously photographed Evelyn and John’s wedding at the History Center, so I knew it was going to be wonderful, and the day did not disappoint! And, after photographing their fall engagement session at North Park Boathouse, I also already knew how photogenic and in love these two are!
The day started off just right with the most perfect light in Alicia’s getting ready room. I always tell my brides to make sure their getting ready space has tons of light and windows, because it makes for such beautiful pictures! It was really special to have Matthew’s daughter in the room and getting ready with Alicia. They both got their own sweet moments in their dresses! Then, I also got to witness the extremely close relationship Alicia shared with her mom. It was so sweet to witness and capture their relationship during such an important moment!
After their ceremony, we took portraits at the nearby Allegheny Commons Park. I was obsessed with Alicia’s veil – it was perfect, so light and fly-away! We had fun taking photos with it, as you’ll see 🙂 During the reception, Alicia’s mom gave a speech that had me tearing up. Alicia’s father had passed away, and she was talking about what her father would have said if he was there. I can relate to Alicia, as my own father wasn’t able to be there for my wedding day too. I know how hard it is to go through the day, knowing a big part is missing. It was heartwarming watching her mom step in and share a mother/daughter dance in tribute to her father. Then, not only did we get a wonderful dance with Matt and his mom, but Matt also got to share a special dance with his daughter, too. It was such a sweet moment that I loved.
